McComb man accused of growing pot in mother's garden | Crime
MCCOMB, MS (WLBT) - A Pike County man has been arrested after police say he was growing marijuana in a garden at his mother’s house.
According to a Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics official, agents were acting on a tip when they found 73 marijuana plants growing on a property on Margaret Lane in McComb.
Forty-four-year-old Richard Lee Doty was not at his mother’s home when agents seized the marijuana, but he was later arrested at his home on Delaware Street on a charge of manufacture of marijuana.
Doty had a prior arrest for grand larceny.
The marijuana plants were approximately two feet tall and, at maturity, could yield processed marijuana with an estimated street of $73,000, according to the official.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Department transported Doty to the county jail, where he was being held under a $20,000 bond.
