MCCOMB, MS (WLBT) - A 4-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday in McComb, and the driver of the vehicle is now in custody.

McComb Chief of Police Gregory Martin says 4-year-old Christopher Allen, of McComb, died from his injuries around 8:25 p.m. Monday after being transported to the hospital by private vehicle.

Martin says officers responded to the Burgundy Heights apartment complex Sunday where a child had been hit by a vehicle traveling north on Warren Street.

Witnesses told police the child was playing near the street when he ran out from behind a parked truck into the path of a vehicle driven by 50-year-old Willie Ray Sibley, of McComb.

Sibley reportedly got out of the vehicle, began to scream, and then he got back into his vehicle and left the scene, witnesses told police.

After officers arrived, Sibley returned to the scene without his vehicle. His vehicle, a green Ford Explorer, was later located at Community Park apartments.

Sibley was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, driving with a suspended driver’s license and no proof of liability insurance. He is being held at the Pike County Sheriff’s Office on $25,934.50 bond.
