Body of missing teen found in Lake Tangipahoa

PIKE COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - The body of a missing Pike County teen was found Wednesday in Lake Tangipahoa at Percy Quin State Park.

Pike County Chief Deputy Steve Rushing says the body of a black female was found in the partially drained 700-acre lake.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Leslie Allen of McComb. She had been missing since Sept. 4, Rushing said.

An autopsy shows no obvious signs of trauma, but the investigation is ongoing.

Lake Tangipahoa was drained because its earthen dam was damaged due to heavy rainfall from Hurricane Isaac.

Louisiana officials had ordered an evacuation of thousands south of the lake, but a huge response of engineers and workers was able to divert water from the endangered dam.
