Animal shelter opens in Pike County | Pets
MCCOMB, MS (WLBT) - A group of concerned citizens who formed a group more than 10 years ago has finally realized their long-term goal of operting a no-kill animal shelter in Pike County.
PALS Rescue in McComb is a brand new 3,000-square-foot, no-kill animal shelter and the only animal shelter in Pike County.
The shelter had its grand opening Aug. 22, but was full of puppies and kittens before its doors even opened, said President of PALS Rescue Gay Austin.
PALS Rescue, which stands for Pike Animal League and Shelter Resuce, has been around for more than 10 years as an organization. The group formed from a group of concerned citizens who had rescued abandoned and abused animals into their homes.
The shelter is located at 1071 Marks Road in McComb on a 3-acre lot donated by Pike County.
It is open Tuesday - Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and other times are available by appointment. For more information about the shelter, call 601-250-5555.
